Turning a yearly, monthly or weekly salary into an hourly rate
To convert a salary to an hourly wage, divide the annual salary by the hours you work in a year: hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). A monthly salary is multiplied by 12 first, and a weekly salary by the number of weeks per year. Example: an annual salary of 50,000 at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 50,000 ÷ (40 × 52 = 2,080) = 24.04 per hour. The same pay is 961.54 a week, 192.31 a day (5 days) and 4,166.67 a month. Enter your gross pay for a gross hourly rate, or your take-home pay for a net rate. Lower the weeks per year to allow for unpaid time off; paid holidays and sick days still count as worked. Work out overtime or a second job separately.
